Creek tribe information

The tribe I am going to tell you about is creek.

First of all I want to tell you about where creek live. The creeks are original resident of the american southeast , particularly georgia, alabama, florida, and north carolina. Most creeks were forced to move to oklahoma in the 1800's like other southern Indian tribe. There are 20,000 muskogee creeks in oklahoma today. Other creek are living in southern florida as part of the seminole tribe, in the  poarch creek band in alabama ,or scattered throughout the original muskogee homlands.


Second I am about to tell you what creek ate.
the ate cornbread, stews, soups, and popular dishes. The also ate deer,corn beans, squash, fish, berries

Third I would like to tell you about creek religion.
It was believed that the creek culture began as a way to guard against other larger conquering indian tribes of the region. The confederacy was in constant flux, It's number and land possession ever - changing as small bands joined and withdrew from the alliance.

Fourth I would like to tell you about creeks entertainment.
creeks children do the same as all children they play with each others, go to school and help around the house. Many creek children like to go hunting and fishing with there fathers. In the past indian kids had more chores and time to play, just like colonial children. But they did have beaded dolls, toys and games to play with. A popular game among teenage boys. And adult men was afvcketv [pronounced ah- futch - kitt - up] which is a stickball game of lacrosse. Creek mothers, like many native american traditionally carried there babies in  cradle boards  on there backs a custom which many american parents have adopted now.

Finally I would like to talk to you about creeks interesting facts.
did you know creek men were hunters and sometimes went to war to protect there families. creek women were farmers and also did most of the child care and cooking. But both genders took part in stroytelling, artwork, and , music ,and traditional medicine.In the past , the chief was always a man, but today a creek women can participate in government too.
